Snakes (do you really need 50 of them?)

In Indonesian language there are many words are still ‘borrowed’ from English and although I have no idea when we will give it back, English word are frequently used in our writing.

It happened almost a decade ago and involved a single word that still gives me a tickle in my stomach every now and then. It is an annual program that a financial planning should be made every year for the office’s needs. An official filled the blank spaces of the needs for a meeting: 50 snake kotak (English translation: 50 boxes of snake).

Just imagine. Guests open the boxes. And found these animals. All 50. Slithering. On their table.

Thanks God. What she meant was snack. Right. I repeat. Snack.

Don’t worry. It had been fixed.

No snakes on the table, then.
